Please wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t feel restrictive, and layers in case you get cold or hot. For massages please wear underwear and clothing that you aren’t concerned about getting massage oil on.
During a Reflexology or Reiki treatment you can expect to be reclined or seated as per your preference. For Reflexology your feet are exposed and as the treatment progresses you may notice points that feel tender. You shouldn’t feel like you want to pull your foot away and if you do it’s best to communicate so that pressure can be reduced until a deeper pressure is better tolerated.
For Reiki you are fully clothed and will feel a light touch from hand placement and may experience sensations of hot, cold or tingling or you may feel dozy. For your first session or two you may not feel anything as sensations can be subtle at first.
For massages you can expect to remove clothing except for underwear and be under sheets and blankets on top of a table warmer. You will start the session by lying face down and half way through the treatment will be facing up. When hot or cold stones are applied please let us know if the temperature is too hot or cold. You are encouraged to communicate whether a deeper or lighter pressure is preferred, if you need to shift for comfort or if you need a break, a drink of water or a tissue.
You may feel relaxed, tired or energized or may experience some emotions as the body is still in rest and repair. It is best to not plan any stimulating activities after a treatment like a trip to Costco or a heavy workout. It’s important to drink a lot of water to avoid adverse effects such as a headache or lethargy. Sleep is often improved after a treatment but sometimes the sleep immediately following a treatment may be a bit restless (especially if dehydrated) but should regulate by the next night.
