Making time to to center and calm ourselves throughout the day can be a beneficial practice. Tackling stress comes from many angles such as insuring we are properly fed, hydrated and rested, and that we have enough alone time and time with loved ones. Slowing down is the main quality needed when choosing the activity that best allows us to manage stress. Stress triggers the part of our nervous system that causes us to fight or flee, and what we want to encourage is the part of our nervous system that allows us to rest and repair. This is achieved by slowing down, relieving our mind of excessive thought, and identifying underlying emotions that may be causing us stress. Reflexology is my favorite relaxation therapy because it helps encourage the nervous system, body and mind to relax completely.
